“Throughout her life Mary has experienced much flux and flow having moved from New Zealand to Belize to Central Asia, and finally back to Ireland. There are a lot of floating and moving shapes in this piece that describes that migration, The tension between the more gestural surfaces and repeat-form shapes, an ongoing dance between a freer kind of abstraction and clear cut edges inform this painting”
